Profiles, Rules and Categories

The Coral analyzer is executes a series of profiles, rules and categories that are shared with all users on the Coral server.

Rules - The most basic unit in the Coral analyzer and allow customers to verify that their contract meets a particular requirement.  If a rule is executed, it will return one of three values: Pass, Failure, or Suggestion.
Categories - A named collection of rules that are used to group related rules in the user interface.  When you create a rule, it must be associated with a category.
Profiles - Named groupings of rules that can be used by all users on the Coral server to analyze contracts or messages.  Profiles contain a list of rules to be executed by the Coral analyzer, and can also override the severity to be reported if the rule is violated.

Profiles, rules, and categories are resources that are shared by all users on a Coral server.  Most organizations will assign one or two individuals to create or modify these items for the rest of the organization.
